So I’ve been putting off this post for a bit just because I don’t have a lot to say. My birthday is on the 8th of February and it just so happened this was listed on the club buy&sell on the 5th of February. As I was looking at buying an IC-7300 or TS-590SG in the near future, getting a fully featured 100W SDR for significantly less was just too good an opportunity to give up.
A new toy arrived in the mail, a very well kept Motorola MCS2000 I bought for $20 (shipping included) on ebay at the beginning of the month.
A helpful member of /r/amateurradio has mentioned the EFJohnson 5100 as a cheap used P25 Phase 2 radio. Well looking at costs on ebay that is certainly true. Wow.
Then looking around I found this post by user “wildcat” on communications.support about a P25 UHF ham repeater, VA7LNK/R.
There is one UHF P25 ham repeater located on Burnaby Mountain which covers the Greater Vancouver metro area. The repeater is configured in mixed mode. Not much activity on there in the last few years, many have moved to other modes like DMR.

Well I’m now quite tempted to give this whole thing a try. But its December so I’m already spending $$dosh$$ on other people.
Beep beep goes the toolbox.
So one of the things that has been plaguing me is RF noise of my own doing.
Chinese AP on the left, Ubiquiti AP-AC-Lite on the right.
I bought an unlabeled, unbranded Chinese Wifi Access Point off ebay.

I’ve solved my problems… Well, there are still green clouds…
